If possible try looking for something on the ground to pick up and place it in your hands to keep the knife attacker away from you and try running away from him/her.

Royal Marines got this bad behaviour out of me with the dummy round drill. It works best to show the student how they’re flinching. They stand behind you, load the gun, pass it to you and get you to shoot a round at a time. You shoot, pass the gun back to them. Eventually, they won’t load the gun. And you see your sights drop or move as you anticipate the bang that never comes. And that’s when the penny drops. You’re not holding the gun still. Hold the gun still, pull the trigger. Don’t move the gun. You CAN’T react faster than the gun goes off. The bullet has left the muzzle of the gun long before you can react. So don’t pre-empt the recoil by digging the muzzle down and putting rounds low! It was a revelation and I scored 25/25 in my pistol proficiency on Glock 17s.

I don't think it's the best demonstration--the guy on defense has to respond after he perceives the attacker moving his hand. He has no chance of catching up within the time and space left to respond. 🌑

Train and use areas which difficult to follow and/ or difficult to attack with knife. Like hills, fence, water especially training in coold water, climbing walls and balconys, jump over cars, training run up and down stairchase and so on.

This makes perfect sense. Really gives a good perspective on controlling the gun . Movement of the gun tanks your shot. No one addresses the grip and trigger control to new shooters. Your a guy I will seek out and watch your spot on, but then your record is the gold standard! Thanks 👍

Grasping the mag well is only useful when operating as a team in confined spaces, especially indoors. The idea is to pull the arms in, elbows down, so you're making yourself as compact as possible. It's a useless technique when fighting outdoors.
